Every plastic toothbrush you have ever used is still on this planet and will take over 1,000 years to degrade.
Our bamboo toothbrushes are made from 100% natural bamboo, chemical-free, eco-friendly, vegan-friendly and most importantly are ethically sourced. Bristles are made from microfiber which can be recycled.
Looking after your toothbrush:
To ensure your toothbrush last longer, dry after use and store in a clean glass container. This ensures the bamboo stays dry throughout the day. You may notice the wood changes colour or darken over time. This is totally normal, and just a sign of a well-loved toothbrush.
Upcycle it. Try to re-use your worn-out toothbrush before you compost it. Write “CLEANING” on the brush so there are no disastrous mix-ups. Use as a scrubbing brush for grout in the bathroom, to gently scrub a stain out of clothes or carpet.
If you need to dispose of the brush do so correctly by removing bristles. Simply grab some pliers and pull in a diagonal motion.
Discard thoughtfully. Check with your local recycling programs if suitable (Micro-fiber is recyclable).
Place the Bamboo handle into your compost or recycling bin. You can always upcycle the toothbrush handle by using it as a Plant Potter sign. Turn upside down into soil and Write “BASIL” for your herbs.
On average, it takes 1 year for the toothbrush to break down when placed in home composts or 90 days to break down when in a commercial compost. However you decide to dispose of your Salt Tribe toothbrush, you know that the toothbrush won't be in our oceans or landfills for years to come, unlike all other plastic toothbrushes.
